My favorite vegetable to grow (and why):
Tromboncino or Zucchetta Rampicante. This is my first year growing it and I love it. Easy to grow and the flavor is wonderful. I may not grow green zucchini again, or maybe just one plant.
My favorite fruit to grow (and why):
Raspberries. Because they don’t require much attention.
Favorite decorative plant (shrub, tree, vine, etc.).
My favorite decorative shrub/tree is the Japanese dappled willow. I’ve made mine into a tree, it can also be a shrub.
Something gardening has taught me:
Patience when the birds eat my plants. When they plant seeds where I didn’t want them and when my starts don’t grow to not stress about it, just try again.
My best gardening tip for beginners:
Don’t give up, just keep trying and attend a garden club. I’ve learned so much from this club.
The success I’m most proud of:
The garlic that I plant yearly on Oct 1st. This year’s harvest was over 100 bulbs
My funniest (or not) failure:
When the birds planted about 15 tomatoes in one of my garden beds. I was losing my mind. It was a jungle. This year, I have about 15 pepper plants that are almost 2′ tall and 1 that is still about 3″ tall. It’s been fed, watering is on irrigation and it gets a lot of sun, for the life of me I cannot figure out what is going on. It looks so healthy, but is so tiny.
A despised garden pest:
Snails and slugs.
My favorite gardening tool:
Hori Hori knife
